If Christ had just been a human being and not God, then he could not be the means for us to share in the life of God any more than any other created being can give us this ability. And if Christ had only been God and not a human being, he also could not be the means for us to share in the life of God, because he would not be bridge between created being (us) and uncreated being (God). The Incarnation is our principal path to God through Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life. It is the Incarnation that is central to our being able to share in the life of God.
